The band was born from an idea of Francesco de Totaro, who after his experience in Four You Blue (Trio acoustic Beatles Tribute), decides in the spring of 2005 to record an album tribute to George Harrison titled A Gardener's Songs. Published on the web, the album collects some success among Harrison's fans around the network. Among them, Jude, an italian girl university in Liverpool, is a passion so get the album from the band to report to Cavern City Tours of Liverpool, the committee that organizes more than twenty years in the birthplace of the Beatles international Beatle Week dedicated to them. Not much time passes and Sir Frankie Crisp & The Friars are invited by Cavern City Tours to attend the 2006 event. So after intensive sessions of rearshal and a pair of concerts in Salento, in August the band, composed by Francesco de Totaro (voice and guitar), Mario Manfreda (guitar soloist and choirs, and already with de Totaro in For you in Blue), Giuseppe Romano (bass), Francesco Romano (percussion), Andrea Cosma (Keyboards) and Vincenzo Pede (drums), part in the conquest of Liverpool: nine concerts in five days on antlers most prestigious stages of northern England (Cavern Front, Adelphi Ballrom , Cavern Back, Waves Bar, Cavern Pub and Cromptons Bar). Returning from this extraordinary experience, full of satisfactions and successes (considerable public support of Beatle Week), the band is reflected immediately in the studio to influence his second tribute to Harrison titled Ballads of Sir Frankie Crisp, who after several postponements sees finally the light in July 2007. Meanwhile, Sir Frankie Crisp & The Friars received a new invitation to Liverpool to attend the Beatle Week 2007, while the band is enriched with two new musicians: Paul Provenzano (drums) and David Di Lecce (Keyboards and choirs). After training run in the new studio and live, the band returned to Liverpool, where besides the tribute to Harrison, this time is the main attraction of an evening devoted entirely to the Travelling Wilburys, mythical formation of the eighties made precisely from Harrison and Bob Dylan, TomPetty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne. In December 2007, Neviano, Sir Frankie Crisp & The Friars make it once again tribute to George Harrison in a memorable concert titled LIVE...in The Material World, where they way of showing all the baggage of experiences accumulated in two years earlier. |
